On April 28th the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors will vote to approve or deny a rezoning request by Adam’s Construction to build an asphalt plant at 4127 West Main Street. If approved, the asphalt plant will be 500 ft from the Glenvar Schools and in sight of Richfield and several hundred homes.
If you’re not a Glenvar resident, it’s difficult to understand why this is a big deal. But if you took the time to visit the community and see the proximity of the site, you too would be concerned. It just doesn’t fit.
We are convinced the Glenvar community is fighting so hard to persuade the Board to deny the proposal because it’s lost faith in its government officials. If we trusted our Supervisors to stand up for the people, we wouldn’t have to fight so hard to have our voices heard. If the Board had a proven track record of making responsible, honest, and transparent decisions, we would have confidence that they would do the right thing.
We hope and pray that the Board will restore our faith in them by denying this proposal and helping Adams find a more appropriate location.
